Winter 2003/2004 Season

Olympic and world alpine ski champion Alberto Tomba, after whom the newest and hardest ski run in Bansko is named, officially opened the Winter 2003/2004 Season in Bansko on December 13, 2003.

Ministers Lidia Shouleva (of economy), Vassil Ivanov (youth and sports) and Dolores Arsenova (environment) were special guests of the ceremony. Major national media covered all aspects of the season opening and Bulgaria’s best Slavi Trifonov Talk Show broadcasted for a whole week from Bansko on an invitation by Ulen.

This winter season in Bansko will be remembered for the impeccably groomed ski area (in spite of low snowfalls) and for the great number of foreign tourists and numerous competitions under the organization of the Bulgarian Ski Federation.

The Ulen ski-area operator company and the Balkanstroy company that built most of the new facilities in the new ski area both received many praises for a job well done; the Bulgarian Hotel and Restaurants Association issued a special Bansko badge.
