New telephone area codes for Bansko, Borovets and Pamporovo

The new area code of Bansko, (749), is active from today, 01.07.2006. The old code, (7443), is not valid any more.

In addition, an 8 digit is added before the number itself, thus the forming of the new numbers is as follows:

Old: +359 (7443) 1234    >    New: +359 (749) 81-234

The area codes for Borovets and Pamporovo have been changed too. The Bulgarian Telecommunication Company (BTC), the fixed line monopolist in Bulgaria, announced in a press release that the change became necessary in relation to the big capacity boost of the new 100% digital exchange. The change is carried out now in order to be complete long before the active winter season.

In addition, all applications for new connections will be granted including those beyond the Bansko urban development limits. More customers will have the opportunity to use high-speed ADSL Internet.
